The first time I saw Saul Williams was as the opener for The Mars Volta back in 2003. He was up there on stage by himself reciting his poetry. Needless to say, I was impressed. I soon found out Saul Williams’ talents weren’t limited to his mastery of words. He paints, creates music, acts… When you see him do what he does, you quickly realize that this man genuinely SHINES. His latest album, Volcanic Sunlight, was easily my favorite of 2011. I was excited to find out he was performing at the Black Cat. The show was amazing (as I had expected). Here are some photos I took of the performance.
